Nafisa al-Mallah
(1902-1982)
A leading socialite in Aleppo, born into a notable family. Her father, Mar’i Pasha al-Mallah, was a Syrian political leader and statesman.
She was very well educated, having a college degree in education and proficient in Arabic, Turkish and French.
Al-Mallah was famous for the literary salon she held in her home. Members of her salon included prominent Aleppine intellectuals, writer and thinkers, such as Omar Abu Risha, Sami al-Kayyali and Ahmed al-Oubari.
